The World Was Wide Enough

Signal boost for [community profile] worldbuildingex exchange. Nominations are now open. Got burning world building questions you'd like explored? Now's the time to act.

In other fannish news, [personal profile] kass put me on to the [community profile] purimgifts exchange for fanworks featuring Jews, women and/or people persecuted by en evil vizier. Sadly, one of the requirements is that you produce at least 3 works of art and I don't think anyone wants my stick figures. Still, if fic and art featuring any of those three groups is your jam, sign-ups are now open.

Speaking of fic exchanges, I finally know what I'm writing for [community profile] past_imperfect! Of course, now I actually have to go write it, but this is a vast improvement from the utter blank I was drawing earlier.

Back when I pinch hit for [community profile] purimgifts, simple jpg or png images were acceptable as the art - I used photos from the internet of things that were important in the story (hamentashen, for example) rather than creating art of my own. See the FAQ:

Um, about the graphics. Do not panic! The graphics are really fun and simple – basically, they can be anything. A graphic can be an icon, a photograph you took, a pretty picture you found on the net, a drawing, a note you scanned, anything. Bad art is practically a tradition. (Podfic cover counts as art, but that’s not to say cover art is mandatory!) Graphics don’t have to have anything to do with the fics, but it’s pretty cool if they do. And if you’re looking for examples or ideas, you can browse the masterlist. Even if you don’t have the slightest clue on how to upload an image, it won’t be complicated, we promise. There will be a detailed submission guide, and we’ll be here to help. (Why graphics? Because it’s fun. Because the point is to make this a basket of treats, so they should be many and simple and colorful and, really, just fun.)
