Sticky:Yuletide Letter 2024
Dear Yuletide Writer,
Thank you for agreeing to write a story for me. I’m sure it will be great. Since you probably don’t know me, I guess I should tell you a little bit about my likes/dislikes.
Likes: I usually prefer gen, especially focusing on platonic and familial relationships. I’m interested in found families, biological families, younger siblings, sidekicks, clones with identity issues, friends who become lovers and friends who don’t. I like crossovers and AUs which reveal interesting aspects of the characters. I enjoy outsider POVs, unreliable narrators, and women being well rounded human beings. I enjoy a good character study and have serious respect for ones with actual plot since that’s something I tend to struggle with. The thing I am really looking for in my Yuletide present is a nice kick in the feels.
Dislikes: I am not into romantic plots and tropes, or graphic sex. I’m not entirely opposed to romance, but I prefer it not to be the focus of the story. I have a huge embarrassment/humiliation squick and issues with infidelity, so please avoid those.
I’m not interested in anything seasonal or holiday-related. No smut please, either. Thanks again for your sure-to-be-awesome fic.
Oxford Time Travel Universe - Connie Willis: Polly Churchill, Colin Templer, Worldbuilding
This is my go-to series when I need to restore my faith in humanity. I am looking for a story which makes me feel the way the books do: a little sad, but ultimate hopeful and a little uplifted. Remind me that love transcends time and death and make me cry while you do it. Blackout/All Clear are my favorite books of the series, but Doomsday Book is the one I read when I need a good cry. Crossovers with this series are always welcome, but I think this year I’d like something about integrating back and grief inherent in time travel.
Star Trek: Lower Decks: Beckett Mariner, Brad Boimler, Carol Freeman
I recently got into this show and it’s hilarious. Mariner is my favorite. I love her PLATONIC relationship with Boimler and am fascinated by her complicated relationship with her mom. I’m looking for something as zany, yet heart-felt as the show. Feel free to include other members of the lower decks gang as well.
Star Trek: Prodigy: Gwyndala, Dal R’el
Gwyn and Dal are my favorite characters on the show and I’d love something that explores their relationship. Maybe something from when they first met as slave and enslaver, two lonely kids desperate for connection. Or maybe a missing scene from the series or a post-season two look at how Gwyn’s savior complex collides with Dal’s trust/control issues during her time as captain. Heck, you could try for all three!
Thank you for agreeing to write a story for me. I’m sure it will be great. Since you probably don’t know me, I guess I should tell you a little bit about my likes/dislikes.

Fox’s Tongue and Kirin’s Bone: Aaron, Aaron’s Death, Rose O’Shea, Lady Adelaide Sung
This series kind of ate my brain lately. I would love something exploring Aaron’s complicated relationship with the Lady and how it sort of mirrors his relationship with the wolf who raised/owned him. Something involving Death and the associated world building would also be amazing. Rose is my second favorite character in the series and anything about her and her relationships with Aaron, her family, or whoever would be lovely too.
My Adventures With Superman: Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen
This show is so delightful and charming. I love the relationships between the core three. The show primarily focuses on the budding romance between Lois and Clark, but I’d love something looking at Jimmy and Clark’s friendship, or Jimmy and Lois, maybe with a side order of how him knowing the secret she’s investigating impacts that.

Worldbuilding Exchange 2023
Dear Author,
Thank you for agreeing to write for me. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Since you probably don't know me, here's a quick primer on my likes and dislikes which might come in handy.
Likes: I usually prefer gen, especially focusing on platonic and familial relationships. I’m interested in found families, biological families, younger siblings, sidekicks, friends who become lovers and friends who don’t. I'm always down for outsider POVs, especially ones who are ignorant or unreliable narrators. For the purposes of this exchange, that can include anything from newspaper articles and academic writings to stories narrated by the preverbal man on the street. Feel free to play around in terms of genre and formatting. When it comes to canon characters, I'm always a big fan of character studies and have serious respect for ones with actual plot since that’s something I tend to struggle with.
Do not want: Anything focused on romantic relationships, smut, character bashing, graphic depictions of sex or bodily harm.
A Song of Ice and Fire
Characters: Original Character(s), Any/None
Worldbuilding Aspects: Old Gods, gods and religion, region-specific customs and cultural traditions, economics and trade, myths legends and songs, skinchanging and warging.
I’m interested in the interactions between the different sections of Westeros with their unique ethnic and cultural heritages. How do the different regions see each other? Are there accents? Are there regional/ethnic slurs? Do religious leaders of different faiths preach against each other? How do different regions react to proselytizing? Are there different magics common to different areas and ethnic groups? My favorite regions are the Iron Islands and the North and something focused on the ways they interact might be interesting.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Characters: Original Character(s), Any/None, Horde Soldiers
Worldbuilding Aspects: Establishment and rise of the Horde, Horde recruitment, growing up in the Horde
Canon has all these hints about how Adora and the gang were raised and trained, but I want more. Who is in charge of the day to day care of child recruits? Are there different career tracks within the Horde (child care, teachers/trainers, food production, weapons manufacturing, soldiers, etc.)? The Horde is both an army and a society. How does it all work?
Infinity Train
Characters: Original Character(s), Any/None Worldbuilding Aspects: Origins of the train, how passengers are chosen, re-integration after the train
I just finished this series and have so many questions. What is the train and where did it come from? Why are certain people abducted and not others? What does all this look like from the outside when a loved-one goes missing for an extended period of time and comes back radically different? What happens to kids who spent years on the train and now have to integrate back into society? Do they need therapy from the trauma of the train?Do people believe when they say what happened to them?
DCU (Comics)
Characters: Bruce Wayne, Damian Wayne, Original Character(s), Any/None
World building Aspects: Civilian response to superheroes, superhero intellectual property and copyright claims, Outsider POV on child superheroes
I love the Batfamily, Batgirls included. I would love to see an outsider POV on their super heroic activities. How annoying/traumatizing is it to live in a city where weirdly themed terrorist attacks happen regularly? What do the press and the internets have to say about the latest Robin? Who does the public suspect? Give me all the secret identity shenanigans. Read The Law of Superheroes and run with the legal implications Batman using tech from Wayne Enterprises’ R&D.

Dracua - Bram Stocker (Novel 1897): Mina Harker, Jonathan Harker, Quincey Morris, Jon “Jack” Seward
Like half of tumblr, I’ve been reading Dracula Daily and I love our vampire hunter team. I would have nominated them all if I could, so feel free to include Arthur or Van Helsing or even Lucy. I ship the Harkers hard and could see Lucy and her boys in a polycule, even if though I don’t want something specifically about romance. I would love some sort of AU where the gang are PIs or possibly a Leverage AU with Van Helsing as Nate and Dracula as the mark. As long as the relationships feel the same, take this AU wherever you want.
Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022): Evelyn Wang, Joy Wang, Waymond Wang
This movie is what my inattentive ADHD feels like and the optimistic nihilism at its core gave me all the feels. I would love something where either Evelyn or Joy gets diagnosed with ADHD and how that information impacts their relationship, with a side order of multiverse weirdness. Give me all the family feels and make me cry.
The Boys (TV 2019): Annie January
I am fascinated by Annie's childhood and what it says about The Boy's universe's relationship with superpowers and super-powered people. Her backstory is a toxic mix of pageant culture, parental abuse, corporate exploitation, and cult indoctrination. At the same time, her powers and the entitlement and expectations that come with them are central to her identity. Her struggle deal with all of that could do with a bit more exploration.
Thank you for agreeing to write a story for me. I’m sure it will be great. Since you probably don’t know me, I guess I should tell you a little bit about my likes/dislikes.

Yuletide Letter 2021
I’m not a fan of alternate setting aus and I don’t really get a/b/o. I have a huge embarrassment/humiliation squick and issues with infidelity, so please avoid those.
I’m not interested in anything seasonal or holiday-related. No smut please, either. Thanks again for your sure-to-be-awesome fic.
Oxford Time Travel Universe - Connie Willis: Michael Davis, Merope Ward, Polly Churchill, Colin Templer
This is my go-to series when I need to restore my faith in humanity. I am looking for a story which makes me feel the way the books do: a little sad, but ultimate hopeful and a little uplifted. Remind me that love transcends time and death and make me cry while you do it. Blackout/All Clear are my favorite books of the series. If you could find a way to cross them over with the MCU, Bletchley Girls or Indiana Jones, you would officially be my favorite author.
The Golem and the Jinni Series - Helen Wecker: Ahmed, Chava
The world building in this series is brilliant and, as a professional historian, I love the way the characters and their stories fit into the larger story of New York and the American immigrant experience. I’d love to see where their relationship goes over time and how they deal with the changing 20th century. They always seemed like big ADHD/Autism solidarity and that might be a cool angle to take too.
The Murderbot Diaries - Martha Wells: Murderbot, ART, Dr. Mensah, Worldbuilding
I got this series for my birthday and spent the next several months obsessively reading it. Give me a story which feels like the next novella in the series and I will love it.
Superman & Lois (TV 2021): Lois Lane, Jonathan Kent, Jordan Kent, Natalie Irons
I love, love, love the family dynamics on this show. Pick up where the season left off. Jonathan is my favorite twin and I am fascinated by Natalie. How does she handle a woman who looks like her dead mother and the boys who are her brothers but aren’t? What happens when they all take a moment to process their trauma? Give me all the family feels and make me cry.

Worldbuilding Exchange 2021
Dear Author,

Based on my selected fandoms, it looks like this year's running theme is, once again, super heroes and superpowers. When it comes to this genre, I'm a big fan of super identity shenanigans; the physical and psychological tole of heroism; and the public's response to heroes and powered individuals.
Dislikes: I am not into romantic plots and tropes, or graphic sex. I have a huge embarrassment/humiliation squick and have issues with infidelity, so please avoid those.
Do not want: Smut, incest, student/teacher sexual relationships, character bashing, graphic depictions of sex or bodily harm.

Yuletide Letter 2020
I’m not a fan of alternate setting aus and I don’t really get a/b/o. I have a huge embarrassment/humiliation squick and have issues with infidelity, so please avoid those.
DNW: I’m not interested in anything seasonal or holiday-related. No smut please, either.
Thanks again for your sure-to-be-awesome fic.
Oxford Time Travel Universe - Connie Willis: Eileen O'Reilly, Polly Churchill, Colin Templer
This is my go-to series when I need to restore my faith in humanity. I am looking for a story which makes me feel the way the books do: a little sad, but ultimate hopeful and a little uplifted. Remind me that love transcends time and death and make me cry. Blackout/All Clear are my favorite books of the series. If you could find a way to cross them over with the MCU, Bletchley Girls or Indiana Jones, you would officially be my favorite author.
MIsfits (TV 2009): Nathan Young, Kelly Bailey, Alisha Daniels, Curtis Donovan
I loved season one, enjoyed season two, and am forever grateful that the series ended with the milk man episode. I really enjoyed the way the show blended some fairly dark stuff with absurdist humor and snappy dialog. Nathan is my favorite character, but I enjoy them all. I could only list four for the request, but I’d love something with all the ASBO Five, especially something focusing on the underused relationships in the show.
Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts: Kipo Oak, Wolf
This is a truly heartwarming show with gorgeous world building, great music, and an even better message. The relationship between Kipo and Wolf gives me life. I'd love something focusing on their relationship. Shippy or platonic, it is up to you. Feel free to include any of the other core characters too.
Hanna (TV 2019): Clara Mahan, Sandy Philips, Hanna Heller
I've enjoyed a good genetically engineered child soldiers story since Dark Angel. I'm really interested in all the trainees, but Clara is my favorite. A look at their early training? Clara adjusting to life in the woods or the Meadows? I am here for it. Feel free to include the other trainees as well. I kind of low key ship Clara with Hanna and Sandy with Jules, but no smut, please, if you go that route.

Eat, Drink, and Make Merry
The Eat, Drink, and Make Merry exchange went live yesterday and I am just now remembering to get to sharing what I wrote for it..
The Last Cheese Bender - It was amazing just how much of Air Nomad cuisine had survived, but none of the other nations ate cheese. Aang was going to change that. (Aang, the Gaang)
I also received an Avatar fic as well.
Drink, Before It Gets Cold by
hmweasley - When Iroh opens a new branch of the Jasmine Dragon in the Fire Nation capital, the Gaang comes back together to share some tea. (Iroh, Zuko, the Gaang) It's super, super sweet, so do what my dad used to do and take some insulin before consuming to keep your blood sugar in check.

Summer Time and the Living Is Easy
Mama's got her grove back! After months of struggling to string two words together, I managed to write five fics, that's right, five, in three different fandoms. This COVID thing really thew me for a loop. I was floundering a little bit anyway since the death of my father and most recent hyperfixation, but the isolation was really getting to me. Then I attended a webinar on documenting the current COVID crisis and launched the COVID Memory Project at the historical society where I work. I've been driving around the county taking pictures of signs. I've interviewed over a dozen people about their experiences. Not only has it gotten me out of the house, it's allowed me to feel less helpless. I'm taking control of the narrative and it has helped more than I ever imagined.
Anyway, on to the writing round-up portion of our post.
Agent Carter
All the World's a Stage - Dottie had cleared out all her belongings except for the dead body under her bed and Angie was starting to wonder if she actually knew anyone as well as she thought she did. She knew she wasn’t the best actress in New York, but she was starting to think she hadn’t even been the best one in the building. (Angie Martinelli, Peggy Carter)
Batwoman (TV)
Trapped in the Closet - Kate was never afraid to come out to her father, but she is now. Episode tag to the season 1 finale. (Kate Kane, Mary Hamilton, Luke Fox)
Black Lightning (TV)
Maybe Baby - "Ever think about what kind of power's you and Grace's kids would have?" Jen asked, raising possibilities Anissa had never considered before. (Anissa Pierce/Grace Choi, Jennifer Pierce)
Sleeping Beauty - Grace had been in coma for over a month now, but Anissa still couldn't help thinking each visit that this would be the one where she woke up. Maybe today it would be. (Anissa Pierce/Grace Choi)
Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts
The Hero Was You - Benson likes Troy and Troy likes Benson. Great! Now all Benson has to do is figure out what to do about it. (Benson/Troy)
Wow, all that content was super gay. Kind of fitting for Pride Month, I guess.
I signed up for the Eat, Drink & Make Merry exchange, so that will be my next project. I also signed up for
femslashficlets folktales tropes challenge, so expect more wlw content down the road. Feel free to suggest a pairing and I may even feel motivated to write it now that my crops have been watered and my depression has cleared up.
