We're Gonna Win In The End
Dec. 7th, 2018 09:26 pmAs a child of the '80s, I have distinct memories of playing with my neighbor's Castle Grayscull and He-Man and She-Ra action figures. At the same time, my recollections of the actual original series are hazy at best. Still, I decided to give the reboot a go. It did not disappoint.
Here's why you should be watching:
Show is super gay, or at least super bi. Literally no one in it is straight.
Best friend squad great. Adora is a fascinating blend of anxious hyper-competence and fail. Glimmer is a pudgy mixed-race magical girl who just wants to punch everything. Bow is the beautiful beating heart.
Catra, her relationship with Adora, and their whole fucked up history of childhood abuse is fascinating.
The show present some fairly dark topics, child abuse, war, etc. in which make them accessible without ignoring their impact.
The theme song. Just listen to that and tell me the show isn't awesome.
