Someone I follow on tumblr suggested I check out Hozier, so naturally I used my iTunes gift card to buy both his albums and I love it. It's so weird! He has a love song about dying and rotting in the woods together and it's so beautiful and has been in my head all day. If you too like intensely morbid songs with lovely tunes sung in a gentle baritone, Hozier may be the man for you. I desperately want a Warm Bodies vid to "Work Song."
When, my, time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold dark earth
No grave can hold my body down
I'll crawl home to her
Come on, folks. Is that not the perfect song for that fandom? I'd settle for any undead/human romance, honestly, but it seems especially perfect for that one. Someone with actual vidding skills get on that.
Wednesday reading time!

Yendi by Steven Brust. This is the second book in the Taltos series, although it takes place at least a year or two earlier. Our boy gets into a gang war, uncovers a convoluted plot, and falls in love. It's a fun book, although not quite as fun as the first one. Vlad's a lot more reactive in this than he was in the last one, and it feels less like a heist as a result. My biggest problem though is his romance with Cawti. They literally go from her murdering him in one scene to them hopping into bed together in the next. Maybe it's just me being ace, but that seems really rushed, not to mention dumb. They've known each other for a week before she proposes and my knowledge of the rest of the series and the fact that she breaks up with him in literally the next book doesn't endear me to it at all. Does it work better for people who've actually experienced sexual attraction? Does that degree of stupid make sense? This is not a rhetorical question. I often have this response to instant-attraction romances. Are they actually plausible?
What's Next
I was supposed to read Teckla, the next book in the Taltos series, but then I saw Storm Cursed by Patrica Briggs on the new to the collections shelf at the library and couldn't pass it up. I'm already a few chapters in. I also got two knitting pattern books at the Friends of the Library book sale for a total of $2. I was pretty disappointed when they decided to do continuous sales instead of their big yearly one, but I've actually found some good stuff there in the last couple of months. Hopefully I'm not the only one buying.
