The Timeless series finale just aired and I am weirdly ambivalent about it. As a history buff, I loved the show hard, so if course I was sad to see it end. It was more than that though.
This last episode hit all the right notes. The resurrection of Rufus. Not one, but two fun history romps. Lucy and Wyatt let go of their ghosts. Emma and Jessica got murdered in ways that left the heros' hands clean. Flynn got a hero's death. Wyatt held a baby. All the ships came in. Even Agent Christopher got her moment in the sun.

So why didn't I love it? I think the problem boils down to the last fifteen minutes. It was like the epilogue of Harry Potter complete with significantly named children. Everything was tied off a little too neatly. How am I supposed to write fic for that? Maybe if they'd done a little more to hint at some sort of more immediate danger than a brilliant 12-year-old, I would have been more satisfied. As it was, I ended up feeling like I'd eaten a whole box of candy. It was fun going down, but the diabetes was starting to get to me.

I'll still be buying the complete series when the DVDs come out, but I'll probably shut it off before the end.
