Wednesday Reading
Feb. 13th, 2019 09:39 amJust Finished
My Hero Academia Vol. 1 by Horikoshi Kōhei - I found the premise of a world where most people have superpowers to be fascinating, but was underwhelmed by the execution. I've heard good things about the series as a whole, so I might check out later volumes from the library, but I have no interest in buying.
The Crocodile God by Jamie Legaspi - Marisol, a young Filipino-American woman finds a hot guy passed out on the beach only to learn he is the sea-faring crocodile god of her ancestors. Things get real when ICE shows up and Marisol begins remembering her past life. It's a beautiful and occasionally surreal look at Filipino culture, history, and religion with an epic romance and some incisive social commentary about the impact of colonialism thrown in for good measure. The book is currently a work in progress and could use another edit could tighten things up, but it is well worth the read. Follow the link above to read it yourself for free.

We Are Robin Vol. 1 - Finally managed to track this down at my local comic shop. It's my current lunchtime reading and I'm enjoying it so far.
Marvel Rising Vol. 1 - Ms. Marvel and the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl team up to study computer programing and kick some butt. It's my fun, pre-bed read and I'm loving it.
Up Next
I've got a bunch of non-fiction I've been meaning to get to. Maybe I'll start there.
